Wolfson was, at one point, a leading critic of Bloomberg, helping defeat Bloomberg's push to institute nonpartisan city elections in 2003, and labeling the mayor an "out-of-touch billionaire."
Howard Wolfson changing:
Attacking a central theme of the mayor’s third-term bid — his mastery of finances — the congressman [Rep. Anthony Weiner] suggested that Mr. Bloomberg had become a profligate spender, unwilling to ask city employees for any sacrifice while adding tens of thousands of workers to the payroll. [...]It's all in the game.In at times harsh terms, Mr. Weiner characterized Mr. Bloomberg as an incumbent with an “old-fashioned way of thinking” who was out of touch with the needs of middle-class New Yorkers.
Howard Wolfson, a spokesman for Mr. Bloomberg’s re-election campaign, said that “finger-pointing and political attacks won’t help middle class families or solve the big challenges facing our city.”
