Just found out about Metric and have been giving this record many a whirl. Insanely catchy, lots of synth and Sounds-y, um, sounds, going on. Have since been listening to Live It Out of a few years ago, which I'm convinced is far inferior, albeit still decent. The best way the disparity between the two can be described is as such: Songs on Live It Out start out where you're on the edge of your seat, just waiting for the initial great chords to segue into even more catchy tunes -- but they never come. On Fantasies, everything clicks and flows. The vocals are wonderful and the mixture of song pacing is welcome. I'm seeing them at Terminal 5 in June, so, although I've heard some fairly "meh" takes on their live gig, I have high hopes.
The first six tracks are stellar, but "Gimme Sympathy" and "Satellite Mind" both stand out as worthy of some serious note.
