Nobody Cares

This piece of shit was lingering in the primetime spot on the NYT site pretty much all day today, under the title, IIRC, "Republicans Don't Share White House Optimism."

The Obama administration expressed confidence that the economy would begin to rebound this year, a message starkly contradicted by Republican leaders concerned about the growing deficit. [...]

That sunny outlook was not shared by Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, the senior Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, and Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama, top Republican on the Senate Banking Committee. They cited new estimates released Friday by the Congressional Budget Office that calculated that the White House’s tax and spending plans would create deficits totaling $2.3 trillion more than the president’s budget projected for the next decade.

Dear New York Times: What happened in November was not an accident. Translated for your purposes, it means that nobody cares what Republican leaders think. Their job is not to think. Their job is to oppose Obama and the big-spendin' Democratic Congress. So this article is pretty much tantamount to reporting on the rain.

Also, it's hard to overlook just how bad Maureen Dowd has become. I don't even know what this means, nor do I want to think about it:

The tableau of Michelle Obama hoisting a pitchfork on Friday with her sinewy arms and warning that the commander in chief would be commandeered into yard work left me wondering if the wrong Obama is in the Oval.
